To pick up exhibits, the case must be concluded and the appeal period must have expired.
Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer exhibits may be retrieved from the Civil Division of the Court located at 421 I Street, Eureka, California. You may call the Civil Division in advance to arrange pick up of exhibits at (707) 445-7256. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
To retrieve exhibits for all other case types, please call the Manager of the Courtroom Clerk’s Division, Janice Sousa, at (707) 269-1242 to arrange a time to obtain your exhibits.
California Code of Civil Procedures section 1952 states that exhibits submitted to the Court in civil actions shall be destroyed sixty days after the final determination of the case. Final determination includes expiration of the appeal period. Written notice of the planned destruction of exhibits will be mailed to parties by the Court. If parties do not contact the Court to arrange to retrieve their exhibits within the time lines provided in the notice, the exhibits will be destroyed.
Pursuant to PC1417.3, the Court may substitute photographs of exhibits that pose security or safety problems at the conclusion of the case.
